CLUB COMPETITIONS – RULES


HANDICAP COMPETITIONS

MRS OVEY CUP


Open to Club Members, to be shot during the period January to June.

The Competition will be shot over three nominated cards indoors, on a "choose your own start" handicap, the same handicap must be taken on all three cards.

Sighting shots are allowed which may be spotted. Only the first and second shots on the card may be spotted, the remaining eight must not be spotted. RCO to remove spotting scope.

The total for each card will be the gun score added to the handicap, i.e. gun score 93,
handicap 7, total 100. Should the gun score and the handicap score be more than 100 then 2 points will be deducted for each point over 100, i.e. gun score 93, handicap 8 total 101, correct score 99.

In the event of a tie, graduated gauges will be used to determine the winner.

All cards to be signed, witnessed and dated.

Cards to be scored by an independent umpire.


THE VETERANS TROPHY
THE GEORGE MALLOWS CUP

Open to all Club Members aged 60 years and over on the day of shooting, to be shot during the period January to June.

The Competition will be shot over two nominated cards indoors and a handicap of 15 or more must be taken. The handicap must be the same on both cards. All shots may be spotted. All shots must be in the scoring rings.

The total for each card will be the gun score added to the handicap, i.e. gun score 85 handicap 15, total 100. Should the gun score and the handicap score be more than 100 then 2 points will be deducted for each point over 100, i.e. gun score 86, handicap 15 total 101, correct score 99.

In the event of a tie, graduated gauges will be used to determine the winner.

All cards to be signed, witnessed and dated.

Cards to be scored by an independent umpire.


CENTENARY TROPHY

Open to all Club Members, to be shot during the period January to June.
The Competition will be shot over two nominated cards indoors and a handicap of 5 or more must be taken. The handicap must be the same on both cards. All shots may be spotted. All shots must be in the scoring rings.

The total for each card will be the gun score added to the handicap, i.e. gun score 93, handicap 7, total 100. Should the gun score and the handicap score be more than then 2 points will be deducted for each point over 100, i.e. gun score 97 handicap 8 total 101, correct score 99.

In the event of a tie, graduated gauges will be used to determine the winner. All cards to be signed, witnessed and dated.

Cards to be scored by an independent umpire.


BEVILLE CHALLENGE CUP
BENCH-REST

Open to all Club Members shooting bench-rest, to be shot during the period January to June.

The Competition will be shot over three nominated cards indoors and a handicap of 5 or more must be taken. The handicap must be the same on all cards. All shots may be spotted. All shots must be in the scoring rings.

The total for each card will be the gun score added to the handicap, i.e. gun score 85 handicap 15, total 100. Should the gun score and the handicap score be more than 100 then 2 points will be deducted for each point over 100, i.e. gun score 86, handicap 15 total 101, correct score 99.

In the event of a tie, graduated gauges will be used to determine the winner.

All cards to be signed, witnessed and dated.

Cards to be scored by an independent umpire.



NON-HANDICAP COMPETITIONS

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
CAPTAIN MUNDEY

To be eligible for this competition a Member must shoot in the Oxfordshire Winter League and the ORA Small-bore Meeting as follows:-

All cards in the Oxfordshire Winter League will count towards this competition. Should a member for any reason fail to complete all cards, they will not be eligible for this competition in that year. The cards must have been shot within the dates as set out in the Oxfordshire Winter League Rules and Regulations and accepted and scored by the League Umpire.

All cards in the Oxfordshire Rifle Association County Summer Meeting will count towards this competition. The winner will be the Member with the highest aggregate score. In the event of a tie, the Trophy will be shared.


THE COL. TWEEDY CUP

To be eligible for this competition a Member must shoot in the Oxfordshire Winter League.

All cards in the Oxfordshire Winter League will count towards this competition. Should a member for any reason fail to complete all cards, they will not be eligible for this competition in that year. The cards must have been shot within the dates as set out in the Oxfordshire Winter League Rules and Regulations and accepted and scored by the League Umpires.

The winner will be the Member with the highest aggregate score.

In the event of a tie, the Trophy will be shared.


THE TYRO CUP
THE MRS WAINWRIGHT CUP

Open to all Club Members with an average of 95 and below. The Competition will be taken on the last 5 cards of the Oxfordshire Winter League or any other nominated league, as decided by the Competition Secretary. The cards must have been shot within the dates as set out in the Oxfordshire Winter League Rules and Regulations and accepted and scored by the League Umpires.

In the event of a tie, the Trophy will be shared.

The Tyro Cup can only be won once by a Member.

The winner will be the member with lowest points dropped.


THE PIPER CUP

Open to all Club Members with an average of 93 and below taken from the Oxfordshire Winter League or any other nominated league, as decided by the Competition Secretary.

The average will be decided by the first three cards in any one of the above events and scored by a League Umpire.

The Competition will be shot over the last three nominated cards to be shot during the months of January, February or March of each year.

In the event of a tie, the Trophy will be shared

MOST IMPROVED SHOT
THE PENYSTON CUP

To be eligible for this Competition a Member must shoot in the Oxfordshire Winter League as follows:-

a) The best of 8 of the 9 cards from the first half of the Oxfordshire Winter League will be calculated and members with an average of 95 and below may enter the competition.

b) The Members’ average from the best 8 of the 9 cards from the second half will be calculated.

c) The winner will be the Member whose average shows the most improvement of the second half against the first half.

d) The cards must have been shot within the dates as set out in the Oxfordshire Winter League Rules and Regulations and accepted and scored by a League Umpire.

All cards to be signed, witnessed and dated.


THE JUNIOR CUP
ALFIE AYRES HOT SHOT

Open to all Club Members under the age of 18 on the 1st January in the year the Competition is to be shot.

The Competition will be shot over three nominated cards indoors during the period January to June.

In the event of a tie, graduated gauges will be used to determine the winner. All cards to be signed, dated and witnessed.

Cards to be scored by an independent umpire.


THE CHALLENGE CUP
COL. BELVILLE CUP

Open to all Club Members, to be shot for on the outdoor Range on a notified day

The Competition will be shot over three nominated cards at 50 yds.

Two cards on a "chose your own start" handicap, the same handicap must be
taken on both cards.

One card timed (90 seconds)

Sighting shots are allowed, all shots may be spotted.

In the event of a tie the best score in the sequence of shooting will be used, i.e. 1, 2, or 3.

All cards to be signed, witnessed and dated.


THE W A FAIRBAIRN TROPHY
Presented to the Club September 1989 by Mrs D Pearson-Kirk. To be awarded to a Club Member with the highest aggregate score at the Oxfordshire Rifle Association County Summer Meeting.


THE DICK HUGHES MEMORIAL TROPHY
Presented to the Club 21/1/1987 by Mrs Hughes and Barry Hughes. To be awarded to a Club Member who has contributed the most to the Club during the past year.

Annual winner to be agreed by the General Committee.


THE PRESIDENT’S TROPHY
With effect from 1963 to be awarded to a non-prize winner for the best achievement in shooting during the year.

To be decided by the Competition Secretary.
